Project Lifecycle: Bid to Closeout
Pass is 80%. This is open-book — use the academy, not hope.
1. A submittal is:
The invoice.
Our proposed products, data, and details submitted for approval before we buy or install.
A punch list.
The bid form.
2. An RFI should do which of the following?
Argue with the architect.
State the conflict, show where it lives in the documents, offer a proposed path, and ask a single clear question.
Ask five unrelated questions to save stamps.
Be sent from a personal phone with no number.
3. Closeout is late when:
You start it after final invoice.
You start collecting warranties, SDS, batch certs, as-builts, and attic stock during the job.
The GC is friendly.
The floor looks good in photos.
4. A shop drawing for cove at a tank pad is missing. Admin should:
Tell the field to wing it.
Hold that detail, flag the gap on the submittal log, and get a drawing issued before that area is sequenced.
Use last job's drawing even if the pad is different.
Ignore it if the GC is in a hurry.
5. When a bid is awarded, the first admin move is:
Post on social media.
Open the job file, freeze the bid documents, issue the kickoff checklist, and request the contract and insurance requirements.
Order all material immediately from memory.
Schedule the application for tomorrow.
