Log the PO on the Opportunity

The customer's purchase order or signed contract is the authority for everything that follows. It gets attached to the Opportunity before a brief is created.

  • Attach the PO or signed contract to the correct Opportunity
  • Set the Opportunity stage and fields the build guide requires
  • Know that a brief may only be submitted once approval is in hand

Logging it

  1. 01
    Open the Opportunity

From the Account, or from the quote's linked Opportunity.

  2. 02
    Attach the PO

Attach the customer's PO or signed contract to the Opportunity record so it travels with the job.

  3. 03
    Set the stage and fields

Move the Opportunity to the stage the build guide requires for a won job and complete any fields that go with it.

  4. 04
    Check the amount agrees

The PO amount should match the approved quote. If it does not, stop here and sort it out before a brief exists — the brief carries the contract amount forward.

Takeaways

  • The PO lives on the Opportunity, attached, before the Order Brief is created.
  • A brief may be submitted once you have approval in hand — a PO or a signed contract.
  • Everything after this reads from the Opportunity, so a PO filed in the wrong place stalls the whole chain.
