Submittals and shop drawings
Nothing gets bought, and nothing complex gets applied, without an approved submittal.
- Run a submittal log that a GC will respect
- Know what 'approved as noted' actually means
- Hold procurement until the stamp is real
- 01Read Div 01 + spec
- 02Assemble package
- 03Log send date
- 04Hold procurement
- 05Stamp returns
- 06Read every note
- 07Revise if required
- 08Release field + buying
What goes in a resinous flooring submittal
Product data (every layer), color / texture samples, moisture mitigation product if any, applicator qualifications, warranty specimen, joint and cove details, ESD test method if specified, LEED or owner-specific forms. Read Division 01 for copies, electronic vs hard, and lead times. Late submittals are how we get forced onto a specified product we cannot get.
Stamp meanings (typical — read the actual stamp)
| Stamp | Admin action |
|---|---|
| Approved / no exceptions | Procure as submitted. File. Tell field. |
| Approved as noted | Read every note. Revise if required. Do not bury notes. |
| Revise and resubmit | Revise. Do not buy. Do not apply. |
| Rejected | Eric + estimating. This can be a change or a fight. Not a shrug. |
Takeaways
- The log is the job. Chasing is the work.
- Approved as noted is not 'approved, ignore the notes.'
- Shop drawings protect cove, pads, and drains.
