Product Installation Requirements
Pass is 80%. This is open-book — use the academy, not hope.
1. How much material do you mix per batch?
Whatever fits the pail — fewer trips to the mixing area.
Only what the crew can place within the working time printed on that product's data sheet — sized to the crew's real speed, with the next batch mixing while this one goes down.
Two kits at a time so the mixer isn't a bottleneck.
Mix it all at the start so the ratio stays consistent.
2. On a large MavCrete placement, abutting edges must be laid:
Whenever the next batch happens to be ready.
Within 10 minutes — the sheet calls a wet-edge installation imperative to avoid lines and ridges.
Within an hour; urethane cement is forgiving.
After the previous section firms up so you don't disturb it.
3. Applying MavSeal UPA, the gap between one mix and the next must not exceed:
5–10 minutes — and use joints as the natural break points.
30 minutes, since Slow Cure gives you 70.
There is no limit if you back-roll hard.
One hour in cool weather.
4. It is 56°F in the plant and the system calls for a polyaspartic topcoat. You:
Use Slow Cure and work fast.
Use the Fast Cure version — the sheet requires it below 60°F.
Warm the material with a torpedo heater pointed at the pails.
Thin it so it flows in the cold.
5. The second epoxy coat was supposed to go down within 24 hours. It's now hour 30. You:
Coat it anyway — it's only six hours over.
Sand the surface until the gloss is gone, vacuum, then apply the next coat.
Wipe it with solvent and coat.
Apply a heavier coat so it bites through.
6. The slab tests at 6 lbs MVER / 82% RH. The spec is a standard epoxy system. What goes down today?
The epoxy — 6 lbs is close enough to 3.
Nothing. Standard products stop at 3 lbs / 75%. The readings go to the office, and the mitigation — FC at 16 mils, MavCoat MVB, or a urethane cement system — is their call.
A quick extra prime coat to seal it.
The epoxy, but only in the dry-looking areas.
7. Applying MavSeal UHD topcoat, you:
Squeegee it at 8 mils for better build.
Dip-and-roll only, 3–4 mils max, stirring the pan each dip and cross-rolling at 90° — it foams if it goes on thicker.
Roll it heavy and let it self-level.
Apply it directly to ground bare concrete.
8. You cannot find the data sheet for the product on the truck. You:
Go from memory — you've installed it plenty of times.
Ask whoever on the crew sounds most confident.
Stop and get the sheet — job folder, or pull it online in 20 seconds: our website's PDS Library or a Google search. No sheet, no mix.
Use the numbers from a similar product.
